Gary B. Keefer Wellness Center

Penn State Beaver added a state-of-the-art Wellness Center to the campus gym in 2012 and in the spring of 2014 it was named in honor of former Beaver Campus Chancellor, Dr. Gary B. Keefer.

The $3.3 million project, designed by Pittsburgh-based WTW Architecture, added 4,980 square feet of space to the gym and included areas for weightlifting, cardio machines, and aerobics. In addition, 1,500 square feet of existing gym space has been renovated.

Athletic and Recreational Facilities Include:

  • Baseball field

  • Fieldhouse with 2 full court basketball courts

  • Indoor hitting cage

  • Intramural fields

  • Men's and women's locker rooms

  • Sand volleyball court

  • Soccer practice fields (2)

  • Softball field

  • Walking trail

  • Weight room

  • Wellness room

  • Wrestling room (area)


Beginning on Monday, December 3, 2012, Penn State Beaver alumni who attended the Beaver Campus from Fall 2008 to Spring 2012 may request a pass to access the Wellness Center facility.  Any interested Beaver alumni attending between these dates should contact Andy Kirschner, Athletic Director, at 724-773-3826/, or, BJ Bertges, Assistant Athletic Director, at 724-773-3845/   All approved patrons will be expected to present photo ID along with a campus-issued pass for access and agree to adhere to University and Wellness Center policies. Please note that the approval process to obtain a pass may take 7 to 10 business days.
