York, Pa -- The Penn State Beaver basketball team went on the road to face off against Penn State York for an important conference matchup. Beaver has had a tough time this season in conference play, 5-5 coming into this game, and are fighting for a possible PSUAC playoff berth. The team has played very well during the second half of their season and they come into this game looking to improve their chances on making it one step closer to the playoffs.

The game was a one sided affair, with York taking control of the game within the first 5 minutes of play. Both teams came out of the gate with a lot of energy, trading shots back and forth through the first 5 minutes. Eventually it was York that began to pull away from Beaver, steadily gaining a bigger and bigger lead as play went on. As the first half went on, Beaver's slow start began to really hurt them as York was able to keep adding on to their lead, eventually going into half with down 65-33.

The second half of play didn't go much better for Beaver, as the team still didn't seem prepared to take on a very talented Penn State York. As the second half reached the ten minute mark, York was up by 34 points and began to step up their defense. Beaver was unable to overcome the York offense all night, and the last ten minutes of play were all York as they coasted to a 116-84 win over a struggling Beaver team.

With their loss to York, Beaver now sits at 9-11 overall with a 5-6 conference record. Their loss tonight is a big setback for their playoff hopes as the team falls back once again in the PSUAC standings with only a few games left to play this season. Beaver was led in their loss by the efforts of Senior Ignacio Alleyne (Stafford, VA / Colonial Forge) who tallied a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. The team will play next on Saturday, January 28, at Penn State Mont Alto. Game time is set for 3 pm.
