Beaver Wins Second Game of the Day

Drifton, PA -- Beaver takes down Schuylkill for the second time this weekend, winning 7-2.

Beaver opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second inning as the first seven batters reached base safely allowing Sarah Foose (New Bloomfield, PA / West Perry) and Dina Cable (New Bloomfield, PA / West Perry) to score earning RBI's for Cable and Breanna Cepull (Monaca, PA / Central Valley).

Schuylkill tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning, but Beaver battled back to regain the lead in the bottom of the inning on a run scored by the speedy Brittany Garza (La Feria, TX / La Feria), scoring on a wild pitch.  Beaver would add another run in the bottom of the fifth as Foose doubled to score Asia Borders (Ellwood City, PA / Ellwood) who singled in her at bat.

Carrying a two run lead into the sixth inning, 4-2, Beaver tacked on three more runs for a cushion again off of the bats of Borders and Foose who teamed up for all 3 RBI's in the inning.  Foose, who was on the mound for Beaver, held Schuylkill hitless in the top of the seventh as the Lady Lions went on to win by a final score of 7-2.

Leading the offensive efforts in the game were Jenna Petrucci (New Castle, PA / Shenango), Borders and Foose who each contributed 2 hits a piece.  Foose also was in the circle for the Lady Lions throwing the complete game and stiking out three of the 29 batters faced.

The win advances Beaver into the semi-final game tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. where they will face Penn State Hazleton to see who will advance into the conference final.
