Tim Moore brings in his first Official Recruit
Katie Dennis is the first commit of the 2012-2013 season for the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions women’s basketball program.
Katie Dennis is the first commit of the 2012-2013 season for the Penn State Beaver Lady Lions women’s basketball program. She is also Coach Moore’s first official recruit as a head coach. The standout guard is from South Side Area High School where she had a accomplished academic and athletic career.
Coach Moore is very excited to have Katie join the women’s basketball program. “Katie is an accomplished local player and I think it is important to be able to recruit talented players from the area. It also say’s a lot for the program and what we have accomplished over the past five seasons.” Moore also states that Katie will bring a new dimension to the team. “Katie is a tall (5’9”) and strong guard which is something we did not have this past season. She should be able to create some mismatch problems for our opponents at times and add much needed height to the program.”
Katie chose to continue her basketball career at Penn State Beaver for a few different reasons. “I did not want my basketball career to end,” say’s Dennis. “Coach Moore talked to me and when I visited campus I really liked the atmosphere and the team was really nice.” While being a standout basketball player at South Side and playing for 10 years, Katie also participated in volleyball for 5 years.
Aside from continuing her basketball career, Katie will major in Biology. She chose Penn State Beaver academically for the Penn State name in a small classroom setting. “I chose Penn State Beaver because I come from a small school and I am used to this type of environment. It is also close to home for me.”
