Five Athletes Named USCAA All-Americans
Two baseball players and three softball players receive spring honors
As the spring athletic season comes to a close with both baseball and softball playing in the post season, five athletes were named USCAA All-Americans for the 2013 season.
On the men's baseball team seniors, Markus Allen (New Castle, PA/Union) and Alex Filippi (Aliquippa, PA/Center) received honors. Allen was named to the 1st Team and Filippi was named Honorable Mention. This is the third year Markus has been honored and for Alex, this is his first All-American award.
On the women's softball team, senior Korey Freyermuth (Pittsburgh, PA/Perry) and juniors Nicole Bowersox (Penns Valley, PA/Penn Valley) and Lauren Pier (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) received honors. For Korey, who was named to the 1st Team this season, this is her third year in a row to be honored. For Pier, who received Honorable Mention this season, this is her second consecutive year and this is the first time Bowersox has been honored by the USCAA also receiving Honorable Mention.
