Thiel Tomcats Defeat Nittany Lions, 86-78

On Saturday, Nov. 22 the Thiel College Tomcats of Greenville defeated the Penn State Beaver Nittany Lions basketball team, 86-78, on the second day of the CRONS Classic at La Roche College, Pittsburgh. 

Thiel had built a 9-point lead by the 10-minute mark of the first half. Beaver tied the score in the first, but trailed at the break, 42-38. The second half was a carbon copy of the first. The Tomcats pushed the lead to 9 again with 11 minutes left in the game. Beaver not only tied it at the 8-minute mark, but built their own 5-point lead with 5 minutes left in the game. The Tomcats came back to tie it at 75-75 with 2 minutes left. Thiel defeated Beaver, ending the game on an 11-3 run.

Junior Tim Kubis (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) led Beaver with 25 points, and junior Zac Fetchin (Hopewell High School, Aliquippa, PA) grabbed 10 rebounds.

Beaver, now 1-2 overall, opens its PSUAC schedule on Monday, Dec. 1 when the team travels to take on Penn State DuBois at 8 p.m.
