Tough End to the First Half of Play for the Men's Team
Beaver takes a loss to CCBC 80-57.
Monaca, PA - CCBC pulled away early and never looked back in an 80–57 road win over Penn State Beaver on December 20, 2025 at the Beaver Fieldhouse. CCBC set the tone with a fast, efficient opening 20 minutes, building a 46–23 halftime lead behind sharp shooting and active defense that created extra possessions and limited Beaver's rhythm. Penn State Beaver struggled to find consistent offense in the first half, and the early deficit forced them to play from behind the rest of the afternoon. The second half was more even, with both teams scoring 34 points after the break, but the damage had already been done. Beaver showed better pace and shot-making coming out of halftime, yet CCBC answered enough to keep the margin comfortable and prevent any sustained run. The game's flow reflected the box score: CCBC's efficiency (32-for-61 overall, 10-for-24 from three, 6-for-6 at the line) and pressure (11 steals) created separation, while Beaver's shooting night (21-for-62, 3-for-12 from three) made it difficult to close the gap.
For Penn State Beaver, Ny'zir Dix led the way with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 2-for-2 from three, adding 3 rebounds. Off the bench, Jermaine Knaff scored 7 points (2-of-7, 1-for-5 from three) and DJ Baker added 7 points on 3-of-5 shooting while contributing 2 steals and a block. Joe Pinto also chipped in 7 points, and Teon Wynn Jr. provided energy with 5 points and a team-high 3 steals; Beaver's other scoring included Brandon Rue (4), Trevor Franklin (4), Jiyhad Bobbitt (4), and 2 points each from Jabari Gayle, Allen Cole, and Xavier Ryan.
Ultimately, the result hinged on the first-half gap and the shooting disparity: Beaver finished at 33.9% from the field and 25.0% from three, while CCBC shot 52.5% overall and 41.7% from deep. Beaver did generate 11 steals and won some hustle areas, but 17 turnovers and a cold perimeter night undercut the comeback effort. The loss dropped Penn State Beaver to 3–11, while CCBC improved to 4–11, with the final margin reflecting CCBC's early control and steadier offensive execution throughout. The team will now be on break until after the new year and will take the court again on Tuesday, January 13th at 8pm when they travel to take on Penn State Dubois!
