Beaver Battles but Falls to Penn State Fayette, 87–70
Penn State Beaver battled on the road Saturday afternoon but couldn’t overcome a strong first half by Penn State Fayette, falling 87–70 at the Community Center in Lemont Furnace.
Penn State-Beaver traveled to Lemont Furnace on Saturday afternoon and ran into a balanced Penn State-Fayette attack, falling 87–70 at the Community Center. Beaver showed early fight and got steady scoring from its starting group, but Fayette's efficiency and depth gradually tilted the game. The hosts set the tone with a strong opening half, taking a 42–29 lead into halftime after consistently turning stops into points and controlling the flow.
Out of the break, Beaver played its best offensive stretch, putting up 41 points in the second half, but Fayette matched it with 45 to keep the margin comfortable the rest of the way. For Beaver, Jermaine Knaff and Trevor Franklin led the way with 15 points apiece, with Jermaine Knaff knocking down three triples and Trevor Franklin adding a strong all-around line that included nine rebounds. Jabari Gayle chipped in 12 points, while Joe Pinto added nine and was active as a secondary playmaker.
In the end, Beaver's uphill climb from the first-half deficit proved too steep, and Fayette's steady production across the lineup prevented any sustained comeback run. Beaver's starters provided most of the scoring punch, but the visitors couldn't generate enough extra possessions or clean looks to flip the game late. The 87–70 final reflected Fayette's ability to maintain control from the opening half through the closing minutes, even as Beaver's offense improved after halftime.
The team will take the court again on Monday, January 26th at 8pm in the Beaver Fieldhouse. They will take on Penn State Greater Allegheny in another PSUAC match-up!
