Lehigh Valley, Pa. -- The Penn State Beaver women's soccer team faced off against Penn State Lehigh Valley on Thursday, in the team's first of two back-to-back final conference matches of the regular season. Beaver comes into the game sitting in third place with a 2-2 overall conference record in the PSUAC standings.
In the first period, Beaver controlled the pass of the game early. Five minutes in, Bukuru Edisa strike the ball right into Lehigh Valley's net, putting Beaver on the board (1-0). In the next three minutes, Abbie Miller got her shine by scoring back-to-back goals for Beaver in seven minutes (3-0). Roxy Stalnaker followed up three minutes and scored an unassisted goal, extending the lead to 4-0. Miller kept her hot streak going three minutes later, and bang in another goal past Lehigh Valley's goaltender (5-0). Beaver stayed hot on offense, and Edisa scored her third goal of the game to end the first period with Beaver by six unanswered goalies.
Edisa stayed aggressive to start the second period and knocked down a quick goal in the first three minutes (7-0). As the period went on Beaver had the advantage with Lehigh Valley having no answer to the deficit. Beaver's Taja Finley, Taylor Johnson, Joy Baker, and Katie Valiga each went one to score a goal to wrap the second period. Beaver won the game by a landslide (11-0).
Abbie Miller and Bukuru Edisa led the offense tonight, both scoring three goals each.
After tallying on another conference win, Beaver improves to a 3-2 conference record and hold down third place in the PSUAC standings. The ladies will back on the road tomorrow, Oct. 19, where they will face Penn State Schuylkill in their final conference match of the regular season. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
