Lady Lions Win First Game of the Season in County Battle

Monaca, PA - In a thrilling match the team clinched their first victory of the season against the Community College of Beaver County, with a final score of 3-1. This win marks a significant milestone for the team, which had been struggling to find its footing in the early part of the season. Overcoming a series of challenges to secure the win, the team demonstrated resilience and determination, bouncing back after a tough start to the season with a record of 0-6. This victory not only boosts their morale but also sets a positive tone for the rest of the season.

The game was a showcase of Penn State Beaver's tenacity. They started strong, taking the first set 25-18. However, CCBC fought back in the second set, winning 25-10, which put pressure on Penn State Beaver to regroup and refocus. The third set was a nail-biter, with Beaver narrowly edging out CCBC 26-24. The fourth set saw Penn State Beaver sealing their victory with a 25-20 win.

Key players for Penn State Beaver included Bryanna Neiberg, who led the team with 11 kills, and Linnea Pilarski, who contributed significantly with 8 kills and 10 digs. Aubrey Pulliam was instrumental in setting up plays, recording 21 assists and 6 service aces, which were crucial in turning the tide in favor of Beaver.

Looking forward, the team will return home to the Beaver Fieldhouse on September 11th, at 7pm when they will take the court against CCAC in a another non-conference match-up.
