Thrilling PSUAC Match-up leaves Beaver behind 3-1 to Greater Allegheny
In a tough match-up the Lady Lions took a successful first set but were unable to clinch a victory over Penn State Greater Allegheny.
Pittsburgh, PA - In a spirited showdown Beaver faced off against Penn State Greater Allegheny in a volleyball clash that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Despite a valiant effort, Penn State Beaver fell short, losing 3-1 in a match that showcased both teams' tenacity and skill. The match opened with Beaver taking the first set 25-22, setting the stage for what promised to be a competitive encounter. However, Penn State Greater Allegheny bounced back, clinching the next three sets with scores of 25-23, 25-15, and 25-17, respectively, to secure the victory.
For Penn State Beaver, standout performances came from several key players. Linnea Pilarski was a force on the court, contributing 11 kills with a hitting percentage of .318, alongside 9 digs and 1 service ace, amassing a total of 12 points. Bryanna Neiberg also made a significant impact, leading the team with 14 kills and 4 service aces, despite a challenging hitting percentage of .064, and finishing with 18 points. Julianna Butler added to the team's efforts with 9 kills and 3 service aces, contributing 13 points overall. Mackenzie Mitchell was instrumental in setting up plays, recording 32 assists and adding 10 digs to her performance. Despite the loss, Beaver's players demonstrated resilience and skill, setting the stage for future matches in their season.'
The team sits with a record of 3-9 overall and 1-2 in PSUAC Conference play. The Lady Lions will take the court again on Monday, September 22nd at 6:00pm when they travel to take on CCAC for the second time this season.
