Road Trip Ends with Loss for Women's Soccer in PSUAC Play
Taking on Penn State New Kensington, the Lady Lions returned home with a 6-0 loss.
New Kensington, PA - Penn State New Kensington overwhelmed Penn State Beaver with a resounding 6-0 victory in a tough PSUAC Match-up. From the outset, New Kensington took control, scoring four goals in the first half and adding two more in the second, leaving Beaver struggling to find any foothold in the game. New Kensington outshot Beaver 39 to 8, maintaining relentless pressure throughout the 90 minutes.
Despite the loss, Beaver had notable performances, particularly from Andrea Chargoy, who was the most active player on the field for her team. Chargoy managed to take six shots, four of which were on target, showcasing her determination and effort to break through New Kensington's defense. Katarina Eck and Madison Zahn also contributed with one shot on goal each, but ultimately, Beaver's offensive efforts were thwarted by New Kensington's solid defensive lineup. Goalkeeper Gracie Turyan was kept busy throughout the match, making 19 saves, a testament to her resilience and skill under pressure, despite the overwhelming odds.
Beaver, despite their spirited efforts, were unable to match the intensity and execution of their opponents. This game serves as a learning experience for Beaver, who will need to regroup and strategize for future matches, while New Kensington will look to build on this momentum as they continue their season.
The team will take the field again on Saturday, October 11th at 4pm when they take on Penn State Mont Alto in another conference match-up. The team will be wearing Pink in support of Cancer Awareness, so wear Pink and come out to Wright Field to support your Lady Lions.
